The Teaching Hub is a collaborative center dedicated to empowering educators and advancing
transformative, evidence-based teaching in support of student success. As a catalyst
for academic excellence, we aim to inspire curiosity and nurture confidence in anyone
who has a forward-facing role with students.
The Teaching Hub provides both in-house resources and external referrals. We'll help connect educators with the right expert, group of colleagues or campus entity with whom they can best achieve their goals to support student success.
The Teaching Hub works to support all educators, including faculty, staff and students. We will engage teachers through a series of oppourtunities: community-building gatherings, seminars featuring both external and internal experts, individual and academic unit consultations and professional development oppourtunities.
Whether you have a quick question, need a resource recommendation, want support with course planning and material review, or would like to talk through student concerns and opportunities, the Teaching Hub is here to help.
Schedule a 1:1 consultation on the Teaching Hub bookings page. Meet with any Hub staff member based on faculty and staff calendar availability in 15-, 30-, 45-, or 60-minute intervals.
Educator Support Hours are designed to help UNT instructors enhance their teaching practice. Faculty can drop in anytime for support and resources and to connect, collaborate and recharge their teaching with colleagues.
These come-and-go sessions take place on the second Monday of each month from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Specific dates can be found on the Hub's calendar.
Visit the Hub's Teaching Resources pages to explore workshops, certificate programs, needs assessments surveys and more internal and external tools for campus educators.
Communities of Practice are signature Teaching Hub projects. These groups create an
intellectual nexus for curriculum and pedagogical design work at UNT and engage a
broad base of faculty and staff working together to increase student success.
Each CoP is led by a faculty or staff member and can include small or large teams
of additional educators. To support the work of these faculty, the Teaching Hub provides
facilitation, learning science consultations and necessary data and storytelling support.
CoPs can engage in a variety of topics and methods. Some provide a gathering space
for honest conversation, while others provide a more formal structure to test new
pedagogical models and measure efficacy and student learning outcomes. CoPs may last
a single semester or continue for multiple years.
Partnering with the Toulouse Graduate School, this CoP creates a forum for graduate instructors to build community, identify training needs, share resources and test teaching approaches. Activities may include developing peer mentoring models and online training modules. Aligned with the Hub’s commitment to faculty growth and student success, the CoP increases teaching quality among graduate educators, improve retention and prepare them for future faculty roles.
Generative AI is reshaping higher education. This CoP, in partnership with CLEAR and the Learning Institute, helps faculty explore the opportunities and challenges of AI in teaching. Participants will discuss ethical use, equity in AI policy and classroom integration strategies. Outcomes may include syllabus statements on AI use, suggested trainings, workshops and more.
The Teaching Hub leaders are joined by a steering committee composed of faculty and staff from across the university who have relevant expertise that will provide a breadth of perspective and ensure involvement of different campus units. The steering committee members will help to shape the development, direction, goals, and practices of the units; prioritize projects and recruit participants; and oversee financial and human resources to best achieve meaningful impact.
